Il Mulino New York, Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort

Il Mulino New York, the legendary Italian restaurant has been a pillar of excitement at the Taj Mahal since 2008. Il Mulino New York has garnered unrivaled critical acclaim for more than two decades and we could not wait to taste and experience the restaurant inspired by the genius of brothers Gino and Fernando Masci, who first created Il Mulino in Greenwich Village in 1981.

There are two separate dining concepts in one location at the Taj Mahal: Il Mulino New York and Trattoria Il Mulino. Il Mulino New York is a traditional white table cloth experience with an extensive list of daily specials with wine recommendations. The Trattoria offers a more casual dining experience featuring many of the creative fares of Il Mulino New York, along with more traditional pizzas, pastas and lighter dishes. Il Mulino New York broadens the Taj Mahal's appeal, as the countless foodies who have experienced the famed restaurant in New York can also enjoy the critically acclaimed fare in Atlantic City. Known for its authentic Italian cuisine, focusing on the specialties of the Abruzzi region, Il Mulino New York has built a loyal following through uncompromising devotion to fresh, top-quality ingredients and superior, personalized service.

When we arrived at Il Mulino we were struck with the distinct New York feel from the open and contemporary design. Il Mulino New York's atmosphere was friendly and inviting. The ambiance was simultaneously casual yet elegant, sophisticated and lively.

We were greeted by the hostess, seated and promptly served complimentary eggplant caponata, and a variety of freshly baked Italian breads. The extensive wine list is a "food and wine pairers" dream. For those in the mood for a different beverage, there is a full and happening bar.

We were guided through our selections by General Manager, Bruce Schilder. He described the different dishes and techniques used by the chefs with such accuracy. When we received each dish we were impressed one after the next. Mr. Schilder's overall dedication and commitment to ensure that each guest has the very best culinary experience, was exactly what we have learned to expect from any establishment at Trump Taj Mahal.

The fried calamari, could be cut with a fork, so tender, with a little kick, that was just the right amount of twist to this otherwise traditional favorite. The Italian flag pasta was the perfect balance and taste experience for the pasta lover. Each sauce showcased their individual fresh flavors, while still complimenting each other on the same plate. The desserts were awesome. The bread pudding and the cappuccino are musts!

At Il Mulino New York, you can expect generous portions of the finest quality food. From thick, double-cut veal chops to fresh Dover sole or a dramatic whole roasted branzino. Every dish on Il Mulino New York's menu reflects a devotion to time-honored original recipes. From the pastas to the soups to the desserts, all offerings are homemade.
